What this tour is about
Sri Lanka is small enough that a fifteen-day tour can cover most of what makes it remarkable. We start in Negombo on the west coast, ride up to the cultural triangle (Anuradhapura, Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa), then through the central hill country, and finish on the south coast at Galle.
The hill country section is where the climbing happens. Nuwara Eliya sits at 1,900 metres, and the road up from Kandy gains it gently over two days through tea estates. The coffee at the top is the best on the tour.
The trickier bits
Sri Lanka has been recovering from a difficult few years (the 2019 attacks, then COVID, then the 2022 economic crisis). The cycling infrastructure is real and the people are warm; the country is open for visitors and visibly grateful for them. Our local team has been guiding here for over a decade.
This is also a country where you’ll want to take a rest day in the middle. We build one into Sigiriya and one into the final coastal stretch.
